Transportation Driving You may drive your vehicle right to Sandy Bay. There is a paved highway to within 80 miles of the village. The remainder of the road is gravel. From Flin Flon you take highway 106 (Hanson Lake Road) for 40 miles. Turn north on Road 135 and travel through Pelican Narrows to Sandy Bay. You can eliminate this two-and-a-half hour drive by making arrangements with us to be flown from Flin Flon or Lynn Lake.
Both the Flin Flon and Lynn Lake airports have navigation aids and good paved runways. Planes may be left here and we can arrange floatplane service to our camps. There is an airstrip at Sandy Bay, but only certain aircraft's are able to get in and out depending on conditions. Please check with us before attempting to use this strip. Commercial Airlines There is a commercial jet service to Winnipeg, Manitoba from certain cities in the Mid Western States. From Winnipeg, Canadian Airlines (Calm Air) has regular service to Flin Flon and Lynn Lake. We will arrange floatplane pick up and drop off from these centre's to our camps. Rates Flying costs are from $100.00 - $300.00 (US) per person depending on the type of aircraft used and the distance flown. Split charters are arranged in order to decrease costs for users. Please pack light in order to keep weight minimal. Camps $90.00 (US) per person per day except for Kamuchawie and Laurie, which are $100.00 (US) per person per day. Guides $80.00
(US) per day (you are responsible for the guide's food) Miscellaneous There will be additional charges for floatplane service and mixed gasoline used. Children under the age of 15 receive a discount. A deposit of 10% is required when final booking dates are confirmed. There are both provincial taxes and goods and service taxes (7% & 7%), which apply to some of the above rates.
